"I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped me with my cat, Yogi, last Thursday night, July 13.  That would be Lynn (when I first called), Micaela, Dr. Stephanie and Erica.  I also want to thank Joshua for calling to check up on Yogi, and for his follow-up help as well.  Everyone was great. Unlike other vets whom I had visited earlier in the week, Dr. Stephanie took the time to hear what I had to say about Yogi's past medical history.  The fact that she was willing to listen speaks for itself.

While I was there, I had the most interaction with Erica.  She was just awesome all around.  She was so down to earth, and she patiently answered all of my many questions.  When I called her the next night because I had forgotten a couple of things, she was still just as friendly and helpful while on the phone.  She is a real sweetheart.  <3

I was hesitant to go to an emergency animal hospital after a bad experience at another years ago. But, this time around was definitely a positive experience.  Everyone showed a genuine concern for helping my cat, and that's what is most important to me.  It was the kind of atmosphere that put me at ease instead of putting me on guard.  I would definitely come back to y'all again.  Once again, I appreciate everyone's kindness and help."

The communication from all of the staff during Jax's stay there was amazing and put our minds at ease! Money was a big concern for us and Dr. Johnson first made sure Jax was stable and cared for, no questions asked, explained the treatment process, and then was both fair & compassionate regarding the charges. 

Originally my dog had emergency surgery at another location and we paid thousands of dollars, only to find out later the problem was never fixed and another problem had developed because of this. On top of the $3000 I already paid I would need another $3600. We then enlisted a friend who has had multiple dogs for years. She directed us to this facility and said without hesitation 'Dr. Johnson is brilliant and she will tell you what needs to be done, and she will do it with honesty and integrity.' She couldn't have been more right.

Perhaps the biggest thing that I noticed was Jax's reaction upon returning to this facility for a follow up visit. As soon as he realized where he was, his tail was wagging and he ran to the door. The staff was genuinely excited to see him as well. He is not a fan of going into his regular vet's office and actually cried and pulled away at the other emergency place in the area that attempted his previous surgery. I trust his instincts and can see the sincerity in this staff. 

It's an emergency clinic, it costs more, and you may have to wait patiently but the final result is a happy, healthy dog. There is no where else I would ever take my dog. We cannot thank Dr. Johnson and all of the staff for the individualized care that Jax received the first time, but this last time, they saved his life.

"Thank you to Dr. Johnson, Dr. V and staff for taking excellent care of our Wrangler. He is slowly getting back to normal. It has been a long, difficult and traumatic experience for all of us. He is eating, drinking and most importantly, peeing!!!! Success! I worked at an animal emergency clinic many years ago, with some horror stories I could share. Yes, the cost is double, sometimes triple of a regular vet, but it is an emergency room. We pay a lot more at an emergency room than at a regular doctor as well. These days payment is due before services are rendered, which drives me crazy, but that is just the way it is now. Some people just skip out on paying and that leaves the clinic to cover the costs, and the animal in turn suffers. And yes, just like in human care, sometimes with all the best care, some don't make it. The Doctors and staff showed more compassion and care to both Wrangler and us than I have seen in a long time. Yes, the cost was astronomical, but our Wrangler's life is priceless. Sending love and light from the Andrews family."

"A bit over 2 weeks ago our 14 year old rescue was bitten by a pigmy. After receiving initial care from a wonderful vet clinic in Port Orange, we brought Casey to you all to spend the night and monitor her. We adopted Casey over the summer, her previous family had abandoned her, and she and my 13 year old daughter are best friends. You took wonderful care of her, reviewed everything that was going to be needed/suggested for her continued care throughout the night, and we knew she was in good hands. With the efforts of Dr. Johnson and everyone else there that night, Casey is better than ever. Who says the “older” pups don’t have amazing spirit. Thank you everyone from my daughter, Casey and I. "Everyone was wonderful! We came home only to find our sugar glider had a very swollen leg. The staff was great with her and found a way to take x-rays of her leg. We were told by another ER hospital that they would not see her because their doctor was not familiar with sugar gliders. As I respect their honesty, Dr. Van Nieuwal took the time to research sugar gliders and was able to treat Sophia. We greatly appreciate the time and consideration of the doctor and the staff."

"We were clients of Dr. Johnson when she practiced in VA in the early- mid 1990's. She helped our baby boy Hank (Dalmatian) though a short life of seizures, bouts of pancreatitis and bladder stones. She even re routed his urethra to come out where he was neutered bc the stones kept returning and this helped them be able to pass. In the end, she compassionately told us when Hank's time was over and that to treat him further would be selfish on our part. After Hank's passing, we added Stonewall (Great Dane) to our family and Dr. Johnson was was his vet until we moved from the area. She made a house call to help us learn to post Stoney's ears and give him his first round of shots and eventually tacked his intestines to help prevent bloat. I trusted her completely with my dogs and if she were in TX, she'd be our vet for our Marshall (Great Dane) and Hunter (Chesapeak Bay/boxer mix)."

"The Animal Emergency Hospital of Volusia is the most professional and friendly veterinarian facility of any kind that I have been too in this area. As I can only speak of our families experience with the staff, here is the story: We found our 8 year old bulldog getting more and more lethargic during the weekend and found that the hospital was open on Sunday morning so we took him in. Each step of the way during, what for us was a harrowing experience, they (especially Dr. Johnson) spent extra time to reassure us, tell us exactly what they were doing to our baby boy and what would be done next (he had eaten a bone that he found out in our field and got a super bad internal infection). The only thing that surprised me was the amount; however, as I looked through the itemized list of everything they had done to save him and then likened it to an emergency visit to the hospital I was somewhat surprised it had not cost more (the last time I went to an emergency room I believe it was close to $10k - One shot - and horrific customer service to boot).+ They watched him through the night and carried him to the car when I picked him up and I could see the concern on each person's face that I interacted with. When I got the bag of medicine there were clean directions on the medication and the veterinarian who had been awake for at least 24 hours did her best to explain everything that we needed to do."

I would, without reservation, recommend this facility and it's staff for emergency pet services."

If you are not aware of this top notch animal hospital and own a pet in Volusia County I implore you to check them out. They are geared to save lives and have the capabilities to handle any emergency. I recently took my cat Rusty to them as he was struggling at the tail end (no pun) of his life. I also want to say thank you for our initial call while we were vacationing in your area..... your hospital was already closed for the day, and you still were kind enough to call a daytime animal clinic to make an appointment for my Roxy.  Unfortunately she was too ill to save. Once she passed away, I called your hospital and was told to bring her in, and your staff would take good care of her remains. The staff treated us with such respect and compassion, we were impressed beyond words. We felt confident that they would treat Roxy with respect, and felt comfortable leaving her in their hands.

"THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST!! During a Thanksgiving visit to my parents, my dear dog Walter ate almost an entire bowl of M&M's. Luckily my sister realized he was the one who ate them and a friend of hers recommended I call Animal Emergency Hospital Volusia. I was very upset when I called and Jamie was wonderful. She calmed me down and told me the quickest way to get to the hospital. Once there, Dr. Johnson came in and explained we should take an x-ray first to be sure. His x-ray r= evealed he had indeed eaten all of the M&M's and she explained in detail what we needed to do to remove all of the chocolate. Needless to say, my poor dog had to endure multiple uncomfortable procedures to accomplish this task. By the way, he came bounding out of the examination room without a care in the world and they told me they did what they needed to do with the least discomfort to him. Amazing to me...and they did it all in a little over 30 minutes. He had a bit of a rough night, but was back to his old self in the morning. They even called to check in and see how he was doing. A very nice touch! As I live in Boston and had no idea who to take him to, I took an incredible leap of faith to trust Animal Emergency Hospital Volusia with my precious dog. But I should not have worried. They took great care of Walter and of me, and the cost was very reasonable considering it was a holiday. Thanks again!"
